Foot pain has become a real problem, especially in recent years with the baby boomer population experiencing the compounding effects of decades of stress to their feet. In fact recent studies by the American Podiatric Medical Association state that 72% of Americans will suffer with debilitating foot pain. Although those numbers are staggering, there is a viable solution for foot pain. As people become more educated they are seeking less invasive approaches to treating their foot dysfunctions and pain.
The foot is an amazing structure with how it’s assembled. There are 26 bones all held together by a network of ligaments. These bones are arranged into 4 arches. Two pass lengthwise from heel to toe, and two span across the width of the foot. The arches of the feet function like little springs absorbing the stress and trauma from each step you take. Due to repetitive stress from walking and running or the sustained stress of standing in one place for prolonged periods of time, the foot bones often lose their healthy alignment. When the feet lose their healthy alignment the arches do not function as well. Specific chiropractic adjustments to the individual bones of the feet will help to remove stress from those overstressed tissues. Foot pain sufferers generally respond very well to chiropractic foot adjustments. If you or someone you know suffers with foot pain, they should schedule an appointment with Dr. Steve Minors as soon as possible to come in and allow us to evaluate their foot condition.
